Three cords from one plate, casts falling at three heights.

Barnacle Grove is three falls from a single ceiling plate: three semi-rigid cloth cords, each a run of hand-blown casts set at its own height, warm low-voltage LEDs throughout, dimmable at the wall. Staggered, the three read as a small stand of stems — a grove hung over a table or a stair.

Blown and cast by hand in a natural mould. Dimensions, colour and texture vary from the photographs; no two pieces match, including yours.

Story

Where the Falls are one line, the Grove is three — cords dropped from a single plate and cut to different lengths so the casts stagger down like stems finding their own light.

It is the composition piece of the hanging set: hung over a table it gathers a room, the amber pooling at three heights at once.

The light

A warm low-voltage LED sits where the cast runs thickest. The glass does the shading: thick sections go deep and quiet, thin sections go bright, and the bark's texture decides which is which.

It is house light, not task light. Hang it low over a table or alone in a hallway and let the wall carry the glow. It is happiest at dusk and after.

There is nothing to maintain. Dust it when you think of it.
